Deep breath, this might be a lot of info.
Tips on How To Prepare for Your Upcoming Tattoo Apt
Try to get adequate sleep the night before.
Remember to start taking anti-inflammatory medication 24 hours before your appointment!
Avoid consuming alcohol & blood-thinning medications if possible.
Avoid tanning, waxing or anything that might discolor or irritate the skin in the area that will be tattooed.
Do not work out right before your appointment. Or take pre-workout.
Plan to not work out a couple of days after a large tattoo session.
Eat a balanced meal and drink plenty of water.
Shower, wear deodorant and go easy on any cologne/perfume/body spray.
Wear clean, comfortable clothing that you do not mind possibly getting ink on. You may want to bring a light jacket, sweatshirt or blanket if you tend to feel cold.
Feel free to bring snacks, meals or beverages. You are also welcome to order delivery. We have Jackrabbits delivery available in our area.
The studio has music playing constantly, but you may also want to bring headphones, music or a book.
Payment is due at each session, so remember to bring your wallet. Cash is the preferred method of payment.
But wait, there’s more.
If you are a good human, you probably already know this stuff. Just in case, do a quick read and make sure no one laughs at you.
Kidding, no one is going to laugh at you. We don’t believe in that.
Tattoo Studio Etiquette
Please arrive on time to your appointment. If you are running a little late, please let us know that you are on your way. If you are more than 30 minutes late and do not contact us, you will be considered a no show.
Please do not arrive intoxicated to your appointment.
If you would like, you may bring a friend; however, please do not bring a group of people to your appointment, and do not bring children or anyone under the age of 18 without forwarding.
Do not leave a child or pet in your car while getting tattooed. Please arrange for someone to take care of them somewhere else during your appointment.
Please plan accordingly and only reschedule if you absolutely must. Cancelling or rescheduling at the last minute is a huge inconvenience to your artist as it is difficult to fill an opening on short notice. If you must reschedule, please contact us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. See booking fee policy for more info.
Please be 100% sure about what you would like before booking your appointment. The artist must approve a project before booking – this means your appointment and booking fee are only for the project that was discussed at the time of booking. If you have changed your mind about what you would like, please do not wait until right before your appointment to let us know. Please contact us as soon as possible and we can discuss whether or not Holly is the right artist for the new project.
Please do not try to haggle.
Please do not make plans for after your appointment as your appointment may take longer than expected.
Please try to refrain from repeatedly asking “how much longer?” or mentioning that you have somewhere to be. If you are traveling, it would be best not to book your return flight for the same day as your appointment. For best results, do not rush your artist.
Please try to hold still. Be mindful of things like gesturing with your hands or turning your body to look around while getting tattooed. If you need to move, stretch or reposition yourself, please give your artist a heads up.
While getting tattooed, do not touch the area being tattooed. This includes applying any numbing agents. This can irritate your skin, cause infection, smear the stencil and negatively affect the tattooing process. If you would like to use a numbing agent, please ask the artist to apply their preferred brand. If you touch the area by accident, please let the artist know and wash your hands immediately to avoid contamination.
Please be respectful of studio property, artist and their clients.
Tipping is never required but always appreciated. If you are unsure how much to tip your artist, 15-25% is standard for a personal service.
